odern Continental has taken another step into the Design-Build market with a $20 million contract to install new condenser water intake and outfall lines for the Federal Government’s Pentagon Renovation Program. The goal of this program is to upgrade the Pentagon into a modern and flexible office environment that will endure for many years.

The Pentagon Heating and Refrigeration Plant (H&RP) Intake/Outfall Project includes the construction of a new condenser water system. The new system will consist of an intake line that will draw cold water from the Potomac River and transport it to a screen house located at the H&RP. Two existing 60-inch intake lines will interface between the screen house and the existing Pentagon chiller system. In addition, a new outfall line will be installed from the Pentagon H&RP to the Roaches Run Waterfowl Sanctuary. The new condenser water intake and outfall lines replace the 58-year old, deteriorated, underground water lines that the Pentagon H&RP currently uses.
